Police Clearance Online Registration: Step by Step Procedure

The following are the steps for applying police clearance online application:

Step 1: Register for an Account via the National Police Clearance System

The first thing you need to do is go to https://pnpclearance.ph (1) to access the national database or system. You must register for an account.

In the registration, you need to supply the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your complete home address
  • Sex
  • Civil Status
  • Birth date
  • Nationality
  • Religion
  • Education level
  • Profession
  • Mother’s maiden name
  • Name of a spouse if applicable

You must also create a password. Once you have an account, you can now click on CLEARANCE APPLICATION.

You can also download the PDF tutorial from the registration page (marked with a red cross) on how to register police clearance online (2)

Step 2: Police Clearance Online Appointment

After clicking on CLEARANCE APPLICATION, you will find yourself on a page where you need to make an appointment. It is also on this page where you will make some options. Below is a guide.

TYPE SELECTIONS WHAT TO CHOOSE
Purpose General, LTOPF, SOSIA General
Police Station Police precincts Pick your local police precinct location
Appointment Date Calendar dates / police clearance online appointment Choose an available date for you

In choosing the purpose in the police clearance online registration, you are likely to use General if it is for employment or going abroad. The LTOPF is a choice for people who are applying for a license to own a gun. LTOPF stands for License to Own and Possess Firearm

SOSIA, on the other hand, is an investigation agency. The people who should choose this purpose are those who are working on a criminal case. You cannot use this if you are not part of the judiciary system or if you are not a private detective. As a civilian, you can only choose either General or LTOPF.

Once you have made that selection in the police clearance online application, the next step is to choose the precinct. This option refers to the office or location of the Philippine National Police where you will get your clearance. It is a long list in a dropdown, so choose your location carefully.

The final action here is to choose a date:

On this webpage, you will see a calendar. Pick a date and click it. You can only make a choice if you already made a selection on the PURPOSE and PRECINCT.

There are two schedules per date, and these are AM and PM. Each schedule indicates how many slots are available. Choose a date with the greatest number of slots, as this means there are only a few people at that time. Finally, click on the NEXT button at the bottom right of this webpage.

Step 3: Pay for the Police Clearance Fee

The next step is the police clearance online payment, which is ₱150. There are several payment options. However, we cannot guarantee that all these will work.

Here are some choices:

  • via Landbank
  • via GCash
  • via 7-Eleven
  • Maya
  • GCash

Right now, the only thing that works is Landbank. If you happen to experience the same, you have no other choice but to pay through what is available.

The next step is to click on SAVE APPOINTMENT. After this, the system will give you a reference number. You must take a picture of the reference number. you need to pay. Depending on the payment system, you must now complete the payment either online or physically.

Let us use Landbank as an example:

  • Go to landbank
  • Tell the guard what you will pay
  • He will give you directions
  • Copy the reference number from the PNP website and put it on the payment form.
  • Make a payment and get the receipt

You only have 15 days to complete this payment. Otherwise, your application will be revoked.

Step 4: Go to Your Selected Police Station

The final step on how to register police clearance online is to go to the police station that you selected. Go there on the date and schedule you selected. You must bring a copy of the reference ID and the receipt of your payment. In addition, you must also bring an ID.

Here is a list of the accepted IDs you can use:

  • AFP ID
  • Alien Certificate of Registration
  • BFP ID
  • BJMP ID
  • Barangay Residence Certification
  • Birth Certificate
  • GSIS UMID
  • IBP ID
  • LTO Driver’s License
  • LTOPF ID
  • Marina ID
  • OFW ID
  • PAG-IBIG ID
  • PCG ID
  • PNP ID
  • PRC License
  • PWD ID
  • Passport
  • National health insurance ID
  • Philippine Identification (PhilID)
  • Postal ID
  • SSS ID/SSS UMID
  • School ID with Registration Form
  • Senior Citizen’s ID
  • TIN ID
  • Voter’s ID

Once in the police station, wait for your turn. They will call you in a room. In this room, present your documents and ID. They will ask you to sit down.

The two things you will do are:

  • Fingerprint
  • Picture-taking

The PNP person in charge will take all your fingerprint on all fingers. Then, you need to look into a camera.

Once done, the officer will tell you to wait. They will now print your National Police Clearance on a piece of bond paper. Once they hand it over to you, you can now go and use that clearance for whatever purpose it may serve.

FAQ

  • How do I get police national clearance?
You can only get a National Police Clearance online. Do not believe people when they say they can process it for you. One exception to the rule is if you have no computer. In this case, you must go to the police station to ask for help.
  • Is police clearance the same as national police clearance?
No, they are not the same. NBI Clearance clears you of any record, especially criminal. NBI is national in scope, including crimes regarding taxation, fraud, etc. Police clearance is pretty much local only.
  • What is police clearance from NBI?
There is no such thing. NBI is for criminal cases, including those filed in court. Police have no record of that. Police clearance is only for local issues. The National Police Clearance merely means that you have no record in any municipality or city in the country.
  • How long will it take to get the clearance?
You will get it on the same day you go to the police station, a few minutes after they take your picture. They use common printers now and common bond paper to print the clearance.
  • Should I pay the police officer?
No. You must only pay on the system. If a police officer charge you with money, it is corruption.
  • What if I do not have a computer?
Some police stations offer support for people who have no phones or computers.
